Yesterday, we participated in the Great American Shake-out. We learned about earthquake disaster response, how to get our homes ready for an earthquake, and what to do if an earthquake occurs while we are in school. I encourage you to talk as a family and discuss your own earthquake response. Who will be responsible to get children from various schools or other locations? Where outside of your home will your family meet if an earthquake happens while you are at home? What are your emergency supplies, and where can everyone find them? What will you do if you cannot get to a family member? Always remember, if an earthquake happens while school is in session, my first responsibility is to keep your children safe to the best of my ability. We stay with your children until someone on the emergency card comes to collect your child.
