Academic Pentathlon is a five subject academic competition. We study all year for the competitions in Orange County. The first is in April for the seventh and eighth grades, then the sixth grade competes in May.
This year, our topic was Africa. We read and analyzed "A Long Walk to Water" by Linda Sue Park along with various other shorter works by African authors. We studied the biology of infectious diseases, focusing on Malaria and Ebola. In math, we learned he number system, ratios and proportional relationships, geometry, and differential calculus. We explored the history of Western Africa, and the art and music of African artists. |
